Twitterization and Social Networking

It seems that the Twitter population is growing everyday. What is so intriging about twitter? I mean, when I first created one it almost seemed like Facebook status updates. However as time went by I realized that its a great tool used to keep up with people. I sign on just to see if people have posted interesting links to blog posts, articles, or videos.

Think 10 years back. We had email and probably nothing close to Myspace and Facebook. There were minor social networking sites created before the Myspace era. Around 2003 a few of my classmates were on hi5. Some networking site that I began using too. I didn’t get into Myspace until a year and a half after it’s creation. And when I did, eventually it became addicting. Thankfully Facebook doesn’t do the whole your own template thing and whatnot that keep so many addicted.

Social networking and texting has given us the ability to communicate with others without talking. Email usage has decreased, amongst the younger generation at least because of tools like Facebook messages and whatnot. I personally have email set up on my phone however I bearly use it.

As far as Twitter, one aspect that might attract people to the site is the ability to keep up with celebraties, known authors, and people that are good role models in general.

I don’t think Twitter is addicting, maybe. I’m not addicted as of yet I think. Note: I’m not sure. It’s just a good resource I use to keep up with people, news, videos, lectures, and whatnot. Just useful stuff in general…

Why the 'Music As Free' Argument Just Doesn't Hold Water

Regular readers of this blog will know that I take a pretty hard line on the idea that music can ‘just be free’ and that I take a fair share of flak for my position  (see my previous post here for background).

Numerous sites, forums and discussion boards pride themselves on their ‘everything should be free stance’ and argue that only money grabbing cynical artists would ever take the side of record labels in the piracy debate.  This is patently not the case.  Last week’s statement on tackling piracy from a 100 UK artists illustrates that artists care about this.  They understand that if people stop buying their music and download it for free that they simply won’t be able to be professional musicians anymore.  I for one used to be a struggling recording artist, many years ago.  I never made enough money from music sales to give up the day job, but I would have loved to be able to.  Not so that I could be rich, but so that I could spend more time doing the thing I loved: making music.

It is easy to argue that if consumers want music for free that the industry will simply have to adapt and develop free business models. But we don’t like our favourite artists because they or their record labels are good business people.  If the music industry proves inflexible enough to adapt to a free model and many professional artists go back to their day jobs who has won?  If the music business (in whatever guise it may evolve – i.e. it doesn’t have to be record labels at the centre of it) locks into a race to the bottom, ultimately less money will filter back to the artists.  That means that fewer artists will get contracts, and artists will have shorter careers.  Many more aspiring artists than today will never make it out of their MySpace page or their day jobs.

One of the counter arguments used by commentators is that having a MySpace page is an ends in itself these days.  No, it is a means to an end, and the VAST majority of artists see it that way.  If an aspiring artist doesn’t get signed to a label / publisher / agent they’ll remain one of those many tens of thousands of artists struggling to stand out from the crowded pack on MySpace.

The majority of artists just want to play their music to their fans and to be able to make a living out of doing so.  Most artists with record deals won’t and don’t make much money out of it, but they get to do what they love, and we get to enjoy their music.  But that model breaks down if people stop paying for music, whether that be buying CDs, downloads, gig tickets, ring tones etc.  And yes, of course, ‘feels like free’ models can pick up the slack, but they won’t do the job on their own, and they certainly won’t do enough whilst illegal free services continue to dominate.

But rather than try to persuade you with my words alone, please take the time to read this blog post from an artist that just felt the impact of file sharing (note this was recently reprinted in the UK’s Guardian by UK Music).  This is the pain of a real life artist and reveals the fallacy of the music ‘must be free’ argument

INTERVIEW: Nina Diallo (Diallo The Store).

Hey, tell us a little information about yourself.  Who are you and where are you from.

The owner Ibrahima Diallo (30) is originally from Guinea West Africa living in Zurich since 1998.  Married since 2001 to Nina Diallo (26), having a little son of 3.

What is life like up in Switzerland, as far as music, fashion, and popular culture.

Zurich is the largest city in Switzerland, people traveling to Zurich to visit clubs, fashion shows, art exhibitions, etc.  Hip-Hop, Electro, House and at the time all mixed, that’s what people looking for….of course fashion is very important  It’s a way to express the way of life and clubbing means comparing outfits with the others…even you are not up to that, it does happen automatically…Once a style or trend is discovered, everybody is following it…As store owners we would describe the Swiss people reserved and not very open to break the style with a new trend.  It takes very long to make trends be understood over here.  Of course people do watch MTV but the most clips are very late in…so compared with our fam in Brooklyn, etc we can say if it is something hot in the states it takes almost a year to call it hot over here….they are not ready to understand it before….

The American market has still a big influence in music and fashion….

Zurich isn’t the biggest place, so we have a few customers like DJ’s, artists, and open-minded people, they appreciate to have something unique, something new, something special, so that’s where we are trying to be focused….

Tell us a little about Diallo The Store and the people involved.

Diallo The Store is a family-run business since 2005, located in the centre of the city…10 minutes from the Zurich main station -15 minutes from the Zurich airport.  We are open Monday – Saturday.  My husband and I do job sharing; everything is in our own strategy, management, etc.  We work with the city and train 4 young boys to get diplomas as assistants.  They work and go to school, which is really fun and gives them a lot of experience.  They are between the ages of 15 and 20 years old…so we are total 6 people….

What kind of brands does Diallo The Store carry?

As a family business we are not able to have the mass but something for the mass.  So we do care about having brands, trends, and styles which you won’t find in Zurich or Switzerland.  For example, we are the official RMC Account: www.rmcjeans.co.uk.  We do just have 1-3 pieces and the next stuff is coming in…so we are not a fix…this is the hole style what should be always a step forward to the Swiss market……we love to work with national or international upcoming brands is easy to make them understand the Swiss market and our philosophy….all we guarantee is originality and quality….so Diallo The Store is about a unique selection of style and at the end of brands.

What are some of your favourite brands out right now?

It’s all about the mix; people love the Kanye West, Pharrell Williams N.E.R.D. style…colourful, crazy, and not to baggy.

What new upcoming events or releases are you currently working on?

We will stay loyal to our strategy, even it takes longer to sell something but if you have sold something the customer will be coming back!

Sharing minds, and being open to projects…we once had a fashion show in a club.  We would love to do that again in the future.  The rest is word-of-mouth propaganda talking with people wearing the stuff on the streets….and keep going on!

What would you say are the most difficult aspects or being in your line of work?

To make people moving for something new and unique!  To make people wear something which is not the norm to the masses!  To make people understand the stuff you got!

The fashion and music worlds are often tied together…What music artists out right now are grabbing your attention?

The most showed love comes from the States and France, because they understand what we got!  The rest are national DJ’s, national artists…like Stress, Afura, etc…club owners, producers – people who are not shy to watch over the boundary!  Check our Facebook friends!

Keeping The Ambulance Chasers Busy With Social Media

It’s coming. As sure as the sun will rise tomorrow, it is coming. The US has become an incredibly litigious society in the last 20 years or so. Remember the lady who sue McDonald’s because the coffee she bought was hot, and burned her? And about 100 other similar cases over time? Well folks, soon they will be attacking recruitment practices on social media (SM) sites. Mark my words.

As Jessica Lee highlighted this in her most recent Fistful of Talent post, there are concerns that lawsuits may rise because of the rise in recruiting on social media sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace.

Now I’ve been saying for sometime, that we’re just in the waiting period before the first company gets hit with a discrimination suit after recruiting on a SM site. Not because it is an inherently bad practice, but because it is a wide open target. From my perspective, I’m a bit leery of actively recruiting off of SM sites, not because I think it’s bad, but more because I don’t want to be the first to get hit. Our team uses a more passive approach on these sites, to divulge information about the company and it’s openings, and to formulate more of a circular recruiting approach to drive traffic back to our company site. In this way, we’re using the site for a recruitment purpose, but not necessarily sourcing off of there, per se. I recently hired someone off of Twitter (our 1st off of there), but it was someone who reached out to us, after seeing some tweets we put out there, and having viewed our career site, hence circular recruitment.

But as Jessica puts it, and as I’ve seen it in other posts out there, SM CANNOT be your only method of recruitment. Sure, if you are seeking people with SM backgrounds or certain creative skill sets, these might be a strong source for you, but hopefully you are supplementing this with other sources. You’ve got to cast a wide net to source and identify the best of the best out there, and one or two sites won’t get you there.

The ambulance chasers will always find something to file a suit against, and people will always look for a way to get rich quick at someone else’s expense. But a well thought out, and well rounded approach to your recruiting will hopefully guard you from any frivolous accusations. You should be taking an active look at your process, and evaluate where you might have any risk exposure.

Plan accordingly, avoid the mob.

Biztosan akad olyan, aki ismeri a The Fold indie/pop-punk zenekart, de aki nem, most az is meghallgathatja a csapat vadonatúj, “File Under: Ground (Take Me In)” című dalát.

Dream Of Interdependent Society

Some people state that the world today is becoming a global, Communication, village. The world has been growing into a global village for years. It just so happens that today’s society is closely connected by telephones, radios, newspapers, computers, and the ultimate of connections the Internet. The world today is becoming a “global village”. Today’s society, Communication, is not a full united “global village”, but the communication of today is helping to build a stronger village. As technology becomes increasing more advanced, society will be more of a united village. In order to become a total global village society must be more compliant with each other and willing to work together. All over the world people are communicating, Communication, through a multi facet of technology,, Communication, but one of the most common technological advancement of today’s society is the Internet. Today’s Internet is helping society become a village by using My-space, e-mailing, instant messaging, you-tube, blogs and many other WebPages on the Internet. People who use the Internet feel that they have more freedom to state their opinions. By using the Internet a person can talk to someone globally, but feel as if they are right in front, Communication, of him or her. This has become the norm in society of today. People no longer have to write a long letter and send it through the mail, they can write a note and click send and it will get to their, Communication, friend or relative in seconds. This has brought our world closer by better communication, Communication, . Although people also have said that technology is pulling the world farther apart.

Clicchi su Info in alto.

#8 Twitterers a.k.a. Twats

Species Name: Delusionus Toomuchtimeontheirhandsicus

As one who relies on social networking sites as my lifeblood to drive traffic to this blog, you’d think I’d have a Twitter account, where I’d blog witty 140 character messages for people to read.  Well I don’t, and you know why?  Because Twitter is fucking useless and provides no additional service that Facebook doesn’t already provide.  In the great popularity contest that is the internet, people are compelled to get as many Twitter subscribers as they possibly can.  Not only that, but these people have the audacity to think I give a flying fuck that they went to the Best Buy to purchase the new Miley Cyrus album?  Get over yourself, nobody cares how crappy your musical tastes are!

I fucking hate that every time I turn on the television, radio, or go to any website, I see that goddamn bluebird or here someone say, “You can follow me on Twitter.  My handle is…” @whogivesafuck!  You want to know the worst part though, the name of the thing…Twitter?!  Could you have thought of a more pussified sounding name for your service?  Lance Armstrong, the man beats balls cancer, and wins the Tour de France six times, so that he can utter the sentence, “I can’t wait to ‘tweet’ about this later?”  And that’s no joke, the guy is actually on Twitter.  Society’s obsession with following everyone’s every move no matter how drab and boring it may be has gotten out of control.

I thought I’d change the format up a little bit for this list.  Instead of coming up with hypothetical reasons why the world would be a better place without these Twitterers, I’m going to let these ten ridiculous celebrity Twats and their ridiculous ‘tweets’ (Kill me for actually using that term) speak for themselves.

In a world where Twitter was just a sex move, we wouldn’t have to endure this onslaught of retards:

  • “Listening to John Glenn mock the social web because he doesn’t understand it. I wonder if people mocked his space program.” @ashtonkutcher (Did he just compare social networking to venturing into space?!  Why don’t you tweet something more interesting like having to pickup Ensure and Depends for the wifey Ashton.)

  • “My parents home is a sanctuary. I love velveeta!! ” @jessicasimpson (What the fuck does that even mean?!)

  • “I am so sleepy…going to bed Tweet Dreams” @kimkardashian (Excuse me while I proceed to vomit out my internal organs)

  • “So a massive zit popped up before Staples which just CAN NOT be there! So I put Desitin (diaper rash oitment haha) on it and it is GONE!” @mileycyrus (Thank you for giving us a behind-the-scenes look at your puberty.)

  • “Not depressing… Awe inspiring…mind boggling…informative and a little troubling. More than a little troubling. Off you go then.” @davematthews (Whaaaaaaaaa?)

  • “Twitter is like NYC. It never sleeps, but during the day its overcapacity, 2 many people, but at night U can have the whole city 2 urself!” @tilatequila (Deep thoughts from Tila Tequila ladies and gentlemen.)

  • “I will be guest Co-Hosting the View on October 1!” @heidimontag (Actually pretty useful, now I know where to mail all this Anthrax laying around my house)

  • “Who’s the boss” was such a great show.” @brookehogan (Weren’t you a zygote when “Who’s the Boss” was on the air?  Although you do have a point…Dammit!  I just agreed with Brooke Hogan.)

  • “If you want to play Xbox 360 or PS3 with me then go to @fdgamerposse and leave me a tweet.” @freddurst (Guess the careers going well eh Fred?)

  • “If someone is acting crazy on twitter, we shouldn’t say they are TRIPPIN’. we should say they are TWIPPIN’” @tyrabanks (No.  You should kill yourself.)

People need to get a fucking life and stop living vicariously through other people via Twitter.  It’s pathetic.  Twitterers all need to perish a painful death. Alas, I fear that the Twitter revolution has only begun.  Pretty soon human interaction all together will become a thing of the past, and people will be forced to read about what new and exciting venereal disease has infested Courtney Love’s twat via Twitter.

But one has to have dreams right?

When Pictures ask Words to Dance: Jessica Smith Owings at OneVillage a Community Church

Hours after Final Friday: By appointment.
Runs through: Oct. 26

Gallery site: http://www.onevillagekc.com

These days, it’s possible to keep the world updated on one’s every thought or action, no matter how minor. (Not always advisable, but possible.)

Jessica Smith Owings doesn’t do the social media things so many of us take for granted.

She doesn’t Facebook, although she once defaced a phone book as part of a performance/printmaking combination piece at the Urban Culture Project Space. And HerSpace, when she’s not teaching printmaking at the Kansas City Art Institute or managing Inkubator Press at the Arts Incubator of Kansas City, is the home she’s rehabbing (where the only tweets come from the birds in the garden).

Oh, she’s no digital Luddite; Owings maintains a Web site and is a regular contributor to Press Play Print. But if you want to keep up with her activities, and see the results of those efforts, you’ll most likely need to hop off the computer and catch the artist and her work in person.

Tonight’s opening at OneVillage a Community Church, a joint show with Terri Kay Wheeler, catches Owings perhaps not in storytelling mode, but in that of sharing vignettes. Each of her prints and drawings is a teaser, a hint that draws the viewer into imagining a larger narrative.

(In one case, Owings provides two versions of the same scene. When you come to tonight’s opening, which also features music by Samestate and Nadia Piotrowsky, look for branches and birds …)

Language, landscape, and the disconnect between people and places are thought-filled spaces within which I situate my investigations, Owings writes. Resulting ideas and schemes are supplemented and informed by collaboration, compulsive collection, and random acts of giving.

Today’s featured piece, the print/pen-and-ink Minutes Past, touches on all three of Owings’ thought-filled spaces. The language aspect is obvious, and the words Owings chose to print say volumes about disconnect (which, in this case, appears to be involuntary on at least one party’s part). And while the soft, fine-lined elements that fill the spaces between the lines can be seen as the brows of those closed eyes, they also suggest several possible landscapes.

Those fine lines could be tufts of grass sticking through the snow, or punctuating a still beach scene. They fade into the distance, suggesting a relationship that is doing the same.

Online communication can help to preserve or renew ties, obviously … but there’s still no substitute for face-to-face interaction. It’s the same with art: as affecting as Owings’ work might appear on a screen, it’s even more powerful in person.

Yes, as always, that’s a hint.

Wordpress Shmerdpress

Now for the past what almost 5 years (how sad) I’ve been blogging on Myspace.  Getting a WordPress account was actually just started out as a threat against me blogging about my husband. Then I started thinking about it, and I was like you know what? Ya I’ll do it. At least this way if I want to talk bad about my friends they won’t see it! Muwahahah!! No, not really.

Well anyway, I started working on this yesterday and I just about lost my mind. I had to change my theme like 23439 times and theres only about 76 to choose from so you can see how aggravated I was getting. One didn’t have extra pages, the other one was too scared to host my blogs, one’s custom header was too small for my picture, until freaking finally I ended up with this one.

Then when I was making my extra pages this and that crap would happen…AAAHHHHHH!!!!!! Finding out I didn’t have my validation code to log into my college algebra class thingy on line just made me snap. That made me remember how mad WordPress made me and wordpress made me think of my computer and how it has a trojan right now and then my body started shaking violently and my head almost popped off, but it’s just been one of those days.

So anyway, hey. I don’t if anyone will ever read any of my post, but if you do cool.  I’m not guaranteeing amazing blogs all the time, I may say things you don’t like and are rude, I may use adult content and say things like shit, fuck, ass , poop, well you get the picture, but this is just me. This is who I am and the things that actually run through my brain. If I post something and you can’t believe it, well, “You better believe.”  Every thing I blog about is for real. Yes, I get to deal with bad friends, weird situations, and down right WTF moments. You should have seen my other blogs…whew, I’m just glad I’m alive and somewhat sane.

Just remember, there’s gonna be lots of misspelling, grammar errors, and maybe pharagraphs that don’t need to be, but this is my blog and I’ll have poor writing skills if I want to!!! *humph*

Now that being said, “GET THAT CORN OUTTA MY FACE!”

Oh, By the way, go help feed some animals. Just click the sidebar if youre reading this. You’ll do it if you have a heart, if you don’t do it, then fuck you. =)

Myspace Akıllı T.V ve Last Fm sitelerinede bugün itibariyle erişim engellendi.Bu sitelere ulaşmak isteyen kullanıcıların karşısına “Bu siteye erişim mahkeme kararıyla engellenmiştir. T.C. Beyoğlu Cumhuriyet Başsavcılığı’nın 26.06.2009 tarih ve 2009/45 sayılı kararı gereği erişime kapanmıştır.” yazısı geliyor.

Kapama işleminin herhangi bir mahkeme süreci sonunda veya Telekomünikasyon Üst Kurulu kararıyla değil, sadece Beyoğlu Cumhuriyet Başsavcılığı’nın kararıyla gerçekleşmesi dikkat çekiyor.

Social Networking Sites and the Surveillance Society (Study Review)

I recently posted a review on a study about surveillance on the New Media Blog, you can read an excerpt here or read it in full version there

Christian Fuchs was born in Austria in 1976 and is currently an associate professor at the University of Salzburg.

He is mainly interested in Media and in Information society research and he’s the author of many scholar papers and of the book “Internet and Society: Social theory in the information age“.

On this study, “Social Networking Sites and the Surveillance Society. A Critical Case Study of the Usage of studiVZ, Facebook, and MySpace by Students in Salzburg in the Context of Electronic Surveillance“, Fuchs evaluates both on a quantitive and qualitative level a research done to see how students in Salzburg use Integrated Social Networking Sites (ISNS) in the context of the political and economic surveillance, focusing his study on three specific sites: StudiVZ, Facebook and MySpace.

Watch Bruno (2009) Full Movie Online

Brüno is a gay Austrian fashion guru. He has his own fashion based television show, Funkyzeit, the most popular German-language show of its kind outside of Germany. After he disgraces himself in front of his Funkyzeit fan base, he is ruined in German speaking Europe. He decides that in his quest for worldwide fame, he will move to Los Angeles and reinvent himself. Accompanying him to the US is Lutz, his former assistant’s assistant. Lutz is the only person left in his circle that still believes in Brüno’s greatness. Brüno goes through one reinvention of himself after another, ultimately straying to areas far removed from his own self. Perhaps when Brüno finds an activity that he truly does love, he will also find that über-fame he so desperately desires.

Borat trickster Sacha Baron Cohen returns to the big screen to offer yet another stinging dose of sociopolitical satire in this comedy that finds him assuming the persona of gay fashionmonger Bruno, the self-proclaimed “voice of Austrian youth TV.” Originally conceived as part of Cohen’s cult television series Da Ali G Show, the character of Bruno offered a cleverly costumed Cohen the opportunity to highlight the absurdities of the fashion industry by interviewing unsuspecting fashion icons and other haute couture hangers-on.

Comedy lightning strikes twice for mickey-take meister Sacha Baron Cohen when his gay Austrian fashionista runs amok in America. In this bargain-basement narcissus’ never-ending quest for “celebrity”, Bruno attempts to seduce a onetime presidential hopeful, adopts a black African baby and provokes a near riot at a caged boxing bout in Texas. Essential exposure of redneck prejudice skips hand in hand with elaborate candid camera-style con tricks. Borat buffs will know exactly what to expect.

Actions Speak Louder Than Words..or Words Speak Action?

Do people actually mean what they say anymore? Or has social networking proved that words, not actions, or just enough to get by?

A million different things have been plaguing my mind lately, never resting, constantly zooming in and out of my mind at every hour of the day. I found that one question in particular has been a reoccurring theme within my daily anxieties that persist to manifest themselves into some compulsive cleaning,  impulsive exercise, and mini melt downs. Although the house has been spotless, not to  mention my car, driveway, closet (among many other things, the thought still continued to poke around in my conscious.

It happened when I woke up one morning, browsing through Facebook, eating my self made concoction of cinnamon oatmeal and Nutella, that I finally realized were this annoying thought/ feeling was coming from…words without any action or meaning.

You have done it, we all have done it at some point in our lives, agreed to something or suggested something to someone that we knew we would never follow through with. Being both the giver and receiver of future actions never to be completed, I have come to realize that this has become increasingly acceptable…and even forgivable, especially if the talked about action is communicated through Networking sites such as MySpace, Facebook, and even sometimes e-mail. For example, when a friend you have not spoken with for a while messages you on Facebook or MySpace asking you “why haven’t we hung out for so long? Let’s do lunch sometime next week.” And you, having no idea what your work or school schedule will be like next week as well; still agree to it, realizing that even though your words agree to action, you are more than likely not going honor the commitment you just made.

So why did you agree to this in the first place, when you knew that it probably was not going to happen? That is exactly my question. Where did backing up your words with genuine integrity disappear to? Is it the fact that social networking sites are so casual that no one really takes things seriously on them? Or is it the fact that it is way easier to be a flake, since you are not communicating with this person face to face? Either way the issue still remains, can you really trust the words your friends are typing to you on these sites, or should you only take them at face value?

Have networking sites condoned a society where action-less words and empty promises are forgivable? Have we become a society of flakes?

WHO DOES THIS BITCH THINK SHE IS?

Allow me to introduce myself. I am Jessica de la Davies-writer, director, woman, pie maker, and some people call me a bitch.

I cannot think of myself as a writer in the traditional sense – oh, and for the record-I don’t speak in the third person. In my opinion, speaking in the third person is stupid and self serving. I’m not a narrator – I’m just a human being being human named Jessica de la Davies. I’m a human who just happens to thrive on writing and directing. Becoming famous is something that I neither want or work for. To be famous in that “Hollywood I’m So Fabulous” way, which in my opinion is leaning toward ego masturbation, has never appealed to my odd sense or sensibilities. I get off on writing – isn’t the getting off part enough? I’ve enjoyed writing and directing for the better part of my short time on The Blue Ball – and I seem to have arrived at a ridiculously soothing rhythmic beat to my writing . I get off on interacting with other humans, so that’s why I’ve chosen this EVIL networking site to connect with as many humans as I possibly can before I disappear forever into my space. MySpace is an incredible tool-it would serve me better if I didn’t abuse Myspace so much. If I was more respectful, I could actually used Myspace it to it’s fullest potential. I’m on facebook too but think it’s secretly run by Big Brother Corporations who are terrified if people with their own ideas (like me) actually reached the masses-hence the facebook 5000 person limit. Nevertheless I am on facebook too-just search my name. I’m off topic now, anyway- I get off on abusing this particular system as a way to spread intriguing ideas, tempting thoughts and authentic feelings to other ridiculous humans in an attempt to achieve Nirvana (okay I’m full of shit here). Writing unusual rambling pieces and interesting stories is always an activity that can often be confused with the dreaded FREE THINKING MIND that Big Brother Corporations fear. How dare we use our own minds to achieve a FREE THINKING world when Big Brother Corporations has our world set up to exploit human drones and utter mindlessness.

I wrote a novel. Its main character is quite unique and my novel should serve to entertain those who actually use book reading to satisfy their minds’ cravings for human authenticity. The novel of quirky ridiculousness is a story about a family that is so real that it couldn’t have really happened-but it did. For the past three months, this novel has been floating through The Publishing Establishment-an agent/publishing house system of: I’m not sure this represents us as an agency (I thought they stated that they were looking for something different?); onto: Umm, we would like to return your novel to you but it’s temporarily misplaced and: other Big Brother Corporation bullshit. I am on the verge of self publishing, but something in my mind makes me desire the “credibility” that Big Brother Corporation agents/publishing houses offer. I guess I am thinking like a ridiculous drone and maybe on the verge of actually becoming everything I hate! Maybe I should run for Congress or something?

I’m always directing something interesting. I just finished directing The Student CD Project and Cinderella. Next, I have planned an odd reality film that will surely be completely ignored by Big Brother Corporations in the Hollywood establishment, but embraced in the INDY world of film making. I receive a ridiculous amount of mail each day and I’ll try my best to respond to you. I do so get off on communicating with all sorts of odd artistic types, free thinking people I have never met and just plain social odd balls-like me. I am in awe that I live in this- the information age-this LIMITED period in our history that has opened doors allowing us to communicate with thousands and thousands of people across The Blue Ball-communicating what we really think-not what Big Brother tells us to think. I am grateful for this ridiculous time of open communication-I’m sure it won’t last.

Oh, and to those of you who think women shouldn’t speak their minds or believe that woman have to play nice. I say -FUCK limits.

I am not going to limit what I write about because it might make “someone else” uncomfortable-because “someone else” doesn’t have to fucking read it. This is for you. My words aren’t meant to reach the ALL – my intention is to inspire you to think for yourself and feel any reaction you want to feel. Any reaction that my writing gives to you means that I’ve accomplished something with my meager time on The Blue Ball. Anyway, none of that crap I just mentioned really matters . . . because the bottom line is: WRITING and CREATING ART.

Embrace it and try to understand OR hate it and close your mind . . . it doesn’t matter as long as I know that I have tried to use our limited time during this information age and this Myspace opportunity to talk directly to you-no Big Brother controls.

Oh yeah . . . I am totally full of shit half the time! You can decide for yourself which half is which-as you are not a mindless drone-but you already knew that didn’t you?

Thanks For Playing Along,

jESSICA De La dAVIES, Ph.D.

Die totale Vernetzung - Der gläserne Mingarot

Friede sei mit mir! Bild: Flo (all rights reserved)

Was soll´s, wer will findet mich eh überall.

Mein Space

Also folgt mir oder sterbt!

Meine Zwitscherei

Feel free to holler at me! C yaa!!

TweetDeck and One Stop Updating

Was just cruising Hypebot on a Sunday and realized TweetDeck made an update where you can update and monitor mypsace, facebook, and twitter all in the same place/time.  Services like this are becoming common as it’s a major pain to login and logout out of multiple sites. We all know myspace is pretty much dead, but as an artist, it’s still somewhere people find out about music because you don’t have to login to listen. Facebook is still relevant and is becoming more musician friendly as time goes.  Twitter seems to keep gaining momentum and it becomes fun when you actually start using it, so we’ll see how far this ride goes.

The point is that any service that makes things easier while still allowing you to effectively engage your various communities is fantastic.  Time is limited and on top of interacting with fans and online promotion, you have to make music, play shows,  work/school,  and have some kinda personal life too.  Take advantage of TweetDeck. It’s a great free tool.  Available for the Iphone if you’re a fellow iphone nerd like myself.

While you’re at it, follow us on twitter.  http://twitter.com/newrockstarbook

Myspace - Online dating at its worst

So I admit that I’ve kinda gotten into the whole Nigerian scam baiting thing. After hours of reading I made a fake profile. I only put two pictures up of a not very well-known model. Nothing provocative is showing, not bad positions.

So anyway, FLOCKS of gross men have been adding me. I started adding them back because I thought it’d be more realistic if I had more than just Tom as my friend. However, I am starting to regret my decision.  I log on to see a new picture comment on the headshot (NOTHING SHOWING BELOW THE SHOULDERS).

WHAT THE FUCK? IF YOU’RE GOING TO BE CRUDE AT LEAST SPELL IT CORRECTLY. GODDAMN.

The guys says he’s 34 (but he’s clearly older) and he cant even spell “titties” ??

Then I just got this lovely message from a Mr. Everett.

Wow Nora, you really got it goin’ on. I like the way you look. Your clothing and the way you carry yourself. I’d like to meet you in person and discuss being your friend with benefits. Worst case scenario we part as friends after a few drinks and laughs. Don’t blow me off girl I really wanna hang out with you. Hope to hear from you soon.

AHAHA. The pictures I have only show ONE OUTFIT. We’re not even friends on myspace AND have *never* spoken before. But I’m going to meet up with you so we can fuck? Oh, but he said don’t blow him off. Well, but I MUST meet him now.

*rolls eyes* I didnt believe people actively used Myspace as a dating tool until now.

Be nice on the way up ...

Be nice on the way up … … that way you won’t have to kiss ass on the way down! If the current 2008-9 crisis teaches us anything it is that fortune can turn on a dime. One day you, or the company you work for, can be on the way up, the next all can be in ruins. If that time comes, you will need all the friends you can muster. How many friends you can muster, and how solid those relationships are will depend to a high degree on how you treated people who you worked with. Namely, the people who worked for you (subordinates), the people who worked with you (colleagues and vendors), and people for whom you worked (your bosses). As Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn and their like have shown, networks of people are valuable. Very valuable. But networks require effort to build, and effort to maintain. Maybe even tender loving care to maintain. So if you want your network to thrive, and to be there for you when fate turns your world upside down (and at some point it will, unless you are truly blessed with good luck), you’d better be nice on the way up, or else in order to survive be prepared to kiss ass on the way down! So which is it going to be? (The expression “Be nice on the way up, or be prepared to kiss ass on the way down” was passed on to me by my good friend Jean-Luc Vila, trader extraordinaire.)

Jaebeom Controversy

I’m not a 2PM fangirl, and have honestly only listened to two 2PM songs in mywhole entire life. However I am guilty of looking at pictures of Taecyeon and Wooyoung, since those are the only two members of the whole entire band that ever intruiged me. Despite my obvious lack of interest for 2PM, I couldn’t help but notice all the controversy that has happened because of myspace comments that Jaebeom wrote about hating Korea 4 years ago (that doesn’t sound like proper grammar but I don’t give a fcuk, this isn’t english class XD). The fact that Jaebeom went to extremes and quit the band altogether bamboozled (hehe, I like that word) my mind.

All I can say is that antis are FCUKING CRAZY.

Well, okay I know this isn’t a new thing, but it is true. They drove this guy to the point he gave up everything that was going for him, because of something that happened in the past. The guy obviously changed.

Since he was a Korean-American immigrant to Korea, he obvious felt isolated and left out when he first arrived there. He obviously will miss his home in America, and therefore express his frustration in.. obviously juvenille ways. Since, of course he was young. The fact that the antis won’t realise that disgusts me. And to go so far as to petition for him to commit suicide makes me wonder if he’s right in hating Koreans. Well, not really, but you get what I mean. That was just… unbelievable.

I’m also kind of disappointed in Jaebeom.. He is the leader of 2PM, therefore he should have been strong and resisted the hate. I guess that’s easier said than done, but the role of a leader should be strong. He succumbed to people who obviously don’t have any common sense, and disappointed many fans by abruptly quitting the group for something that happened before 2PM even existed. If the controversy had involved 2PM completely, then thinking about resigning his leadership role may have made more sense, but the fact that this happened way before 2PM was formed makes this situation completely absurd. Well, at least to me.

Even though I have never expressed interest in 2PM before this incident, I sincerely hope that Jaebeom comes back. Probably not as a leader, but at least as a member of 2PM.

Trevor Giuliani

“…his instrumentation is far more complex than that of a generic indie pop song.” -THE TAPE

“In a music community known for its indie rock, Trevor Giuliani might find it alarming that almost no one is making pop as meticulously as he is.” — WILLAMETTE Week

“Giuliani builds his recordings like a carpenter, carefully layering both acoustic and electric instruments to create moments” — WILLIAMETTE

I agree with the quotes above.  Simple melodies with a soft melachonic voice.  Compositions are beautiful.  This may sound weird but his voice reminds me of Johnny Cash. don’t ask why. It just does. If you listen to the first verse of “Settled bounds” its like Johnny Cash was talking through him or something. So lend him your ears and hopefully you enjoy what you hear!  I actually like the tune entitled “Van Singing”.

I actually couldn’t find any youtube videos of his music so click on his picture to listen to his music on myspace.

ENJOY!:)

Hottests are Angry & Boycotting JYP

The aftermath of group 2PM member JaeBum’s leaving of the group, after criticisms of his offending messages posted up on his MySpace page before debut, keeps growing.

For one, a 2PM fansite Underground has issued a boycott against JYP Entertainment on 10th September at 9am.

UnderGround members are very unhappy with the fact that JYP is doing nothing when their singer JaeBum, leader of 2PM, leaves the group and even went as far as going out of the country.

With that UnderGround has come up with a boycott against the ticket sales to the ‘2009 Dream Concert’ which will take place next month.

They also talked about their stand regarding other 2PM’s albums and merchandises. They will start boycotting purchase of albums released by 2PM.

UnderGround also stated that they will not support and boycott any event or advertisement, product endorsement by 2PM without JaeBum back in the group.

They have stated that they will continue with this status until 2PM is a whole group again. And they also stated that what they are doing is for the sake of the group.

Meanwhile, JaeBum has left 2PM and also Korea on 8th September, 4 days after the backlashes from the revelation of his pre-debut messages posted on MySpace.

First post!

Greetings reader, come in, come in. Take off your coat, hat, mittens and wellington boots, make yourself comfortable. This is the start of something new.

Yep thats me

My name is Jonny Dark, and I am a musician from England and this is my Blog.  Maybe I’ll hit the big time or maybe I’m destined to forever swim in the sea of obscurity. Regardless this is the log of my journey, I hope you enjoy the read. I must admit I’m not a huge fan of blogs, but hopefully in doing this I’ll be won over, and hey, it’s a chance to vent. So without further ado

Allow me to bring you up to speed

I play guitar and have been playing for about 5 years now and I sing as best as I can. I must admit I don’t think I have a natural talent for singing but practice does make perfect.

I am currently working on my first demo to send to gig venues around Manchester and London and so I can start gigging officially. I’m recording using some relatively budget recording equipment in my room and so far have had some alright results.

Most of my work gets posted on YouTube [http://www.youtube.com/jonnydarkmusic] and that gets updated pretty regularly

I do have a MySpace [http://www.myspace.com/jonnydarkmusic]  but in all honesty I’m not a fan of MySpace and I don’t update it much. Mostly because its pretty ugly, though if anyone is kung-fu with html and wants to redesign it for me, please get in touch.

My most notable original work is the song “I like The Rain”

If you like that check out my other stuff, its not bad methinks

My most current project is my version of the song “You Are My Sunshine”. It’s an oldie I know but I felt compelled to do it. It is pretty angsty though:

Click Here

I am currently putting together a short animated film for it which should be done in a few months if all goes to plan.

It’s unlikely that much more will be done thats hugely noteworthy until I get back to Manchester but if something fun comes up I’ll let you guys know.

özer’in, kerem’in ya da merve’nin burada yazdığım, keremin değişiyle “klasik bülent delilikleri”ni okumaları beni rahatsız etmiyor.

“Put a fred perry on, and i’ll be yours”… Mantalite bu sanırım.

P.s. fred perry yazan arkadaş ola ki bunu bir gün okursa, sen alınma. Senin o yazdığın şey gibi biri olduğuna pek inanmıyorum. Ama bazı şeyleri bırakman lazım. Kendini biraz seversen o saçmalıklara ihtiyacın kalmayacak. Öptüm.

Netizens Continue To Hate On Jaebum

There is a petition going around Korean websites to stop all 2PM activities due to leader Jaebeom’s past mistake in Myspace. As of the 7th, those in favor of the petition are a little over 5100 netizens. Although the number does not seem that big, for a group who is currently active, it is a number that can greatly harm their future.

For those of you who are not already aware of Jaebeom’s Myspace controversy, here’s a little bit of background information: Myspace comments that Jaebeom had left for his friend a couple years back, have recently surfaced and have caused much dilemma for 2PM. The comments read towards his dislike of Korea during his trainee years. Being the prideful Korea, many were offended by the comments and quickly took action to bring 2PM’s leader down.

2PM was supposed to return with a new album in October, but because of this controversy, they may have to lay low for awhile.

Regarding 2PM activities, JYP (Park Jin Young) stated:

“For now, 2PM will not have any broadcasting schedules and all of their music performances have been canceled. They will only be recording and practicing dance moves for their new album.”

JYP in regards to removing Jaebeom from the group:

“Although, we feel very guilty and sorry for all the people who have been disappointed by Park Jaebeom’s past mistakes, I will not be taking him out of the group. Many people have been suggesting ideas of banning Park Jaebeom out of 2PM, but that will never happen. We believe that he has done something wrong, but as a whole, we do not think it is enough to be taking his dreams and goals away from him. This was not a decision made by only the JYPE staff, but it was something all of the fellow 2PM members have agreed to.”

With all 2PM activities on hold for now, Jaebeom will be kept out of the limelight until matters die down a bit. For ways to support 2PM, check out the 2ONEDAY Community.

My blog has an echo...

…because no one reads it anymore. Isn’t that disappointing? Oh well. I suspected it.

Let me start off by doing what I said I was going to do at the end of the last post: post a picture of all of my stuffed animals and whatnot.

Say hello to: David (the panda), Moo (the Monokuro pig pillow), Kyo (the panda Skelanimal),

Alexander (the red stuffed elephant), Rolo (the eco-friendly owl), and Shijuu (the monkey).

Oh, and my wicked awesome new Beatles blanket! Woo!

They’re my super-quiet family. My alternative best friends. And I originally did have some ballin’ excuse for why I haven’t posted in a while, but I forgot it, so… I’m just gonna go ahead and start talking about some stuff.

On Thursday, I “adopted” a kitten. The dogs outside attacked her and were slinging her around like a little rag doll; my mum caught them in the act and saved it. At first I thought that they punctured her eyeballs but as each day passes, she can see more and more. One the first day her eyes were swollen shut with blood and pus. Friday, they were constantly watering but she was able to open one. And today, she can open both but they’re still swollen. (I’m not going to post a picture of her until she gets better, because it isn’t exactly a pretty sight.) I need to think of a name for her! I have no ideas at all, though. Comment with any ideas.

We had to run a mile twice last week at school, plus Bradley and I jogged a mile two other days. My legs are getting to the point where they give me agonizing pain after I run, and I even have these two weird knots on my shins. Whoever said that your legs were supposed to get used to the constant running after a while lied.

Speaking of gym class, though, Coach Bandy changed my grade to a B. Now it’s up to me to keep it up. -thumbs up-

I skipped school Friday, partially because of the triple-four idea (four day week + four day weekend + another four day week) triggered my OCD and partially because I wanted to watch over the kitten. The day was so boring that I sort of wish I would have went to school. All I did was get addicted to Pet Society, an app on MySpace and Facebook. I just found out that it was on Facebook Friday — and it is so much cooler on Facebook than MySpace. Alas…I can’t stop playing.

Today, my mum and I went to Wal*Mart in Marksville to buy food and a litter box for the kitten and a pleather right-handed softball glove for me. But Wally World disappointed me. There were no softball gloves. Or bats. Or balls. Or anything related to softball whatsoever. Little did I know, there was a sports store in front of Wal*Mart! That also only had one right-handed glove! Which was leather! Yay! -extreme sarcasm

So…as of now, I don’t have a glove, even though practice is tomorrow. I’m going to try to convince my mum to go to Alexandria before practice and get me one at Academy that fits my criteria. Practice is from 3 to 5, so it’s not like she’d have to get up extremely early or anything. -sigh- I wish I could drive.

HALLOWEEN IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER! Not really. It’s almost two months away. But the point is that Tyler, Courtney, Chris and I have decided to dress up as characters from Left 4 Dead.

Say hello to Francis (we don’t know yet), Bill (Tyler), Zoey (yours truly), and Louis (Chris, even though Chris isn’t black). All we need for everyone to have a complete outfit is a couple of pipebombs, a couple of molotovs, some medical packs, some fake blood, a red tie for Louis, a beard for Bill, and a black vest for Francis. Tyler and Chris have airsoft guns we can use, I have three huge pill bottles to use as pain pills,  and almost every part of every outfit is simple. The hard part will be Chris’s skin color and Francis’s tattoos.

And Courtney is going to be a regular female zombie! (Yes, female. The one behind the man at the front of the horde in the picture. Not the man itself.) All she’ll need is a dress and tons of make up. No worries!

Next Friday there’s going to be a Grandparent’s Day program at school. And guess who was asked to not only write and recite a poem, but sing a song? -raises hand- The poem…I really need to work on, because I barely have one verse finished. Reciting a poem doesn’t make me nervous. But singing a song in front of three hundred kids is kind of a big deal — especially when Brooke and Mia are going to be singing too and their voices are so much more better than mine is. I’m going to sing “In Color” by Jamey Johnson. Yes, a man song, but it was better than my other choice of “Grandpa” by The Judds.

Upcoming events that I probably won’t get to go to but it’s great to pretend! The Echo church fair is going to be the last weekend in September. I went last year and it was pretty cool as long as you have someone to hang out with. And on October ninth, Alice Cooper is going to the Paragon Casino… I really wanna go and see him, since he’s so weird and I love his voice. The only problem is that the tickets are $35. Maybe I can come up with the money though. I invited Courtney and Kim to come with me so it’ll be epic!

-takes a deep breath- Okay, that all should supplement my (nonexistent) readers for a while. Ciao for now.

truly yours,

.chizuru
